Recently, we distributed a survey to the members of the group in regards to the top priority for advocacy within our profession for the LGBT community. The option with the highest votes was development of a compilation of resources across the nation for addressing culturally sensitive care for individuals whom identify as part of the LGBT community.
The next step in the process is to gather materials practitioners are currently using or identification of resources available. After we compile resources we will then begin to organize the data into a tool for students and practitioners use when providing therapeutic services.
Please send me any information you have available or are aware of and let me know if you are interested in assisting with the organization of data. Let's aim to have resources gathered by March 1st, therefore giving everyone adequate time to research and compile information. Thank you to everyone for your interest in advocating and assistance. I look forward to seeing what we develop!
Check out the website below for resources to improve inclusion and respect for individuals whom identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ community. It's an great resource and tool! Have any resources you want to share? Comment below! We look forward to finding out about more resources. Thanks everyone.
Diversity Inc is a phenomenal resource that recently distributed a timeline and fact sheet in support of the LGBTQI population in America. Check out both of the documents when you receive a moment. Enjoy!
